I’m flexible with location, distance and time. Any distance between 10 and 14 miles works for me – if we’re doing 14, I prefer a flatter course (and an earlier start time). If it’s 10, bring on those hills!

    Hey guys,
I’ve got a launch at 9AM (I’ve got to be there between 8:30 & 8:45) at Six Forks Road, so I’m up for any distance at Shelly Lake, but I will go with the group because I can just leave early from the another location if I have to. Let me know….

I vote for Shelley Lake in light of Missy Thang’s schedule. Besides, it s SURROUNDED by coffee shops.

  • 4 litl' bit // Jul 18, 2007 at 10:13 pm

    I love coffee!
I am not working so we can start at our normal 6:30am unless someone else needs earlier? Who will 2nd this motion?

  • 5 terp // Jul 18, 2007 at 11:08 pm

    6:30 at Shelley it is! Let’s aim for 10 – 12 miles.

  • 6 Squeeky // Jul 19, 2007 at 8:15 am

See everyone there. I may bring gifts….

  • 7 elvis // Jul 19, 2007 at 10:32 pm

Is the run at 6 or 630 on Saturday? There are 2 different times referenced in a couple of posts.

  • 8 terp // Jul 20, 2007 at 8:18 am

    6:30 a.m. start time.

Mittdog wants to do 14 if anyone else wants to add a few miles. I plan to do 14. See you in the morning.

  • 9 Squeeky // Jul 20, 2007 at 8:40 am

Does anyone have a phone number for Missy Thang so we can let her know it is 6:30?

  • 10 terp // Jul 20, 2007 at 10:38 am

That’s funny. I couldn’t find “Missy Thang” in the phone book.

I just called her at work and let her know that it was 6:30. I didn’t realize that she was interested in an earlier start until I just spoke with her…but she’s still ok with 6:30 and she’ll get in as much mileage before she needs to leave. We’ll definitely try to start on time. Sorry if I pulled the trigger too early on declaring 6:30. If there’s a way to get the word out that we’ll start earlier so everyone knows…I’m flexible and can start earlier. Otherwise, let’s just stick with 6:30.

I’m out of town the next couple weekends. We’re taking our daughter, Hannah, to Camp Tekoa in Hendersonville this weekend — picking her up next weekend. We won’t be home on a Sat until Aug 18th! Good luck to all of you who are doing the Mission Man!

  • 12 Squeeky // Jul 20, 2007 at 5:05 pm

Dr. Seuss (aka David Smoot) has joined the blog! Cool! Sorry we won’t see you, Seuss. Have a good trip. See you on the 18th.

Y’all have fun. I am at my Mom’s in Union County, and will be Hurleying tomorrow.

  • 14 Rama Polefka // Jul 20, 2007 at 7:34 pm

im out this time around. my ankles dont like the extended pavement, so i am going to do a long ride tomorrow morning. we are heading down to myrtle beach sunday through thurs, so the only exercise i will be getting is running (maybe some swims) so i am going to lay off the long run.

  • 15 litl' bit // Jul 20, 2007 at 8:05 pm

No hurling at Hurleying, Jon…. Have Fun!

We will miss you Rama! Noone to do sub-7′s at the end… I can not wait to hear what you think of Myrtle Beach. It is truely a southern experience…

See you on the 18th, Dr Seuss.

    See everyone else tomorrow……..

  • 16 Squeeky // Jul 20, 2007 at 9:28 pm

Good luck at Hurley, Rap Master Sass.

  • 17 Squeeky // Jul 21, 2007 at 12:25 pm

Great run, everyone. It was good to see so many people out on the trail, some old, some new. And I am not referring to the multiple Galloway groups either. We missed the rest of you.

Rap Master Sass represented us well at Hurley, passing several people on both runs and feeling strong through the end. Must have been the new tri suit.

Elvis finished his first 10-miler today, and at a very good pace. Congratulations, Elvis. At the end of the run, he was overheard speaking to a huge crowd of screaming fans, gyrating his hips and saying
“Thank you. Thank you very much.”

  • 18 litl' bit // Jul 21, 2007 at 8:52 pm

Great run, great weather, great friends….. Congrats Elvis. I hope you have been smiling all day!

Thanks to John and Alex for an awesome swim. I think we are ready for Mission Man. Mitdog’s “EW” group should be looking good and strong.

  • 19 terp // Jul 21, 2007 at 10:39 pm

Very impressive. If you did a long swim after a 14 mile run today, you’re definitely ready for Mission Man. Good luck next week.

Congrats Elvis. You looked strong today.

  • 20 elvis // Jul 22, 2007 at 4:00 pm

Thank you to everyone who helped me through today. A big shout out to Mitdog, and Rob for dragging me through the last mile and motivating me to keep going. Props to Squeaky and Litl’bit for sharing their energy and beans. Without you all I don’t think I would’ve made it through.

Squeeky, I think the “gyrating” you saw was me trying to hobble my way up to the parking lot. Lit’lbut, the “smile” on my face was a grimmace of pain. But, pain has never felt so satisfying.

Thanks again everyone! I don’t know what I did to exact such a favor from the Karmic Universe, but I couldn’t have found a better group of people if I had tried. Sorry for the sap, but I feel truly blessed.

  • 21 Dana Grode // Jul 22, 2007 at 4:17 pm

    Hey All,

litl’ bit, thanks again for letting me tag along. Haven’t ran 14 miles since May and couldn’t have done it without all of your support. I’m looking forward to more runs if I haven’t worn out my welcome. I know I don’t have a nickname yet but I’ve always thought “The Man” or “Supreme Commander” have a nice ring to them………..

    Thanks again.

  • 22 litl' bit // Jul 23, 2007 at 1:06 am

Dana, “Supreme Commander” is a long stretch from “farmboy”… glad you could join us.

Heather where were you? We missed your smiling face, although we were a little concerned about how refreshed it looked after our 11.5 miler last week.

Elvis, we are always here for you, but please don’t call me Lit’lbut again. :)

Wishing everyone a great week! You all are the best!

  • 23 elvis // Jul 23, 2007 at 7:19 pm

Yikes… bit, but… I guess it could’ve been worse. At least having a little one of those is better than a big one. All kidding aside sorry for the typo.

  • 24 litl' bit // Jul 23, 2007 at 11:00 pm

I thought it was very funny, just had to point it out.
I hope everyone got out for a run today the weather was awesome!
