Congratulations, everyone! A boatload of PRs, and a Boston qualification or two. Pictures, please.

terp can you email me the group photo before the race?

Don’t forget Jimmy, who came zooming passed Karen the last 100 yrds. Which reminds me, Sandbagger did you check our half splits. I am pretty sure you got me on that one. Do you think we can use our sprinting effort as an excuse for not beating Squeaky?… I did not think so.
I am definitely sore today. Spending lots of time stretching my calves and babying my feet… all with a smile on my face.
Thanks to everyone for making it so much fun!

Great temperature, great course, and great company. I especially liked the junk food stops along the way. Coke and gummy bears kept me going. The weekend started off great, thanks to KarenG8r’s planning, with an excellent carb-filled dinner in Shockoe Slip. Staying at the Omni and just walking out to the start was a welcomed change from the OBX shuttle.

It was great to be there to see so many Mitterling Milers have so many great results. And, as always, it was great to hang out with the Fast Girls. Speaking of Fast Girls, Litl’ Bit finished 16th in her age group! KarenG8r finished 32nd in her age group in an impressive run on her sweet 16 marathon (yep, I think she has done this 16 times!!!). Missy Thang not only led us in dedicating this run to Nancy, but also showed us she could add finishing a marathon to a her pre-operative schedule with little to no training. Terp brought his family to cheer us on and see him get a PR – the Terps are the true heroes. While it felt good to run in that temp, it was FREEZING for the many spectators. Congrats also to Holly and Jimmy who both finished very, very strong. And finally to Sandbagger, who now can add marathon to his two 1/2 IMs this Fall. Most excellent. Sandbagger, I hope those hills of San Francisco treat your legs well this week.

John B., we missed you as well as the other M&Ms. Looks like we have many stories to catch up on with Raleigh, Marine Corps, Soma, OBX, and Richmond now behind us. Might be time for the Bill Clinton Run next Saturday so everyone can catch up!

Wow! You all are one speedy bunch!! Congrats on the PR’s, BQ’s, etc…and you clean up nice too!

It looks like another year before I have an OBX race report. I was sick sick sick this weekend and never even made it out my driveway. I am finally waking up from my fog and feeling slightly human again today – hopefully I’ll be able to start moving these legs again in the next day or two. I’d hate to have another big fat DNS for Kiawah!

Congratulations again to the Richmond marathoners – very impressive!!

Lots of great times. Looks like you all had a great time and great run. City Oaks went well for me. Completed 1/2 marathon in 2 hours and 43 seconds. Had foot issues hopefully new orthotics will. PR for me!! Hope to see you all soon!

Congrats are definitely in order for the Mitterling Milers!!! They were definitely ON Saturday and ready to roll as you can see by their times!!
I laid off from running with the hope that my achiles tendon wouldn’t flair up on the run. Mitterling Milers Every runner has a story…well I didn’t have a really good one until Saturday. I was feeling okay–weather was good. My Achilles was okay as was my right knee…I mean, I wasn’t limping, but there was still a little something going on. I mean I hadn’t run the prior three weeks so I felt I was okay. At mile 4 Achilles tendon– just exploded! It was devastating to me. I resigned myself to finishing the race so I loaded up on about 12 ibuprofens slapped a packet of bio freeze down the tendon to the heel and “limpedwalkedran” to the finish. It was very, very humbling. Every runner I encountered was kind and empathetic. I must’ve looked really bad as I heard on a least 3 occasions, “she’s not going to make it, she’s hurt bad.” While the support and the course were great. At the end of the day it was God who got me through the course… thank you Nancy. Thank you God!!

As soon as my six year-old helps me, I’ll figure out how to download some more pictures and email them to Sandbagger to post.

It was a great race – nice to meet-up with almost everyone prior to the race and post-race, run much of the race with KarenG8r and Jimmy, and especially seeing Lisa and the kids (and giving them high fives) at the finish line.

The “heroic runner” award definitely goes to Missy Thang. I saw her at mile 12 and she was definitely in a lot of pain. I am incredibly impressed that she found the strength to finish the race. Amazing!

Congrats as well to Lit’l Bit, Squeeky, Holly, Sandbagger, Jimmy and KarenG8r! Thanks to Karen G8r and Jimmy (the official Galloway timekeeper) for helping me get through the first approx. 18 miles. My legs started to tighten-up around then and I stopped during the walk breaks a few times to stretch. I kept Karen G8r’s EW shirt in my sights until approx. mile 20 (around the stadium) when nature called. With no evergreen trees in sight, I was forced to use the port-a-johns (isn’t it nice that they now have Purell in those things?).

Did anyone else think they were hallucinating around mile 22 when they were offered jello shots on the right and then beer on the left? The downhill finish was aweome – isn’t gravity great?! Special thanks to KarenG8r and Jimmy at the finish line for their incredible support.

The organization of the race was spectacular. The crowds were very supportive, there was more food than even I could eat, and the wet wash cloths were a nice treat. This was my third marathon…but probably the first course I would consider repeating.

John B. – we really missed you on Saturday. You’ve probably logged more miles than any of us…and I know that if you weren’t under the weather, you would have done a terrific job!

I look forward to seeing everyone soon and trading more stories.
