Hey Fellow M&Ms: I will miss running with you guys this weekend. Lil Squeek 1 and I are headed down to Camp Seagull. Have a good one. Mitdog, will you be down at camp, too?

Anyone going out to Topsail for the Surf and Turf?

I’ll miss the next couple of weeks as we’re heading for OBX on Saturday – I think the next time I’ll see some of you will be at Kerr Lake!

Thanks Lil’bit and Squeeky for coming out for a great swim at Jordan last night – no snapping turtles despite the fact that Squeeky apparently gave me some bacon juice to spray my wetsuit as turtle bait…..

Thank you Stabu for the Jordan Lake Tour :) I don’t think we got close enough to shore for the turtles to get a good whiff of the bacon juice. Have fun at OBX!
I would love to get a run &/or bike in Saturday, depending on what I can get in Friday depending on the weather. Sunday is out for me, I am working. Any good ideas out there?

Hey Mitterling Milers! I can’t help myself; I’ve got to brag a little (I’ve never taken home hardware), and it’s because of all the training and advice you’ve all helped me with; I set a 5k PR yesterday, and took home 3rd place in my age group (M30-39, big range!) in an inaugural 5k about 1 mile from my house. 486 participants, 151 competitive, 33 in my age group (large group!).

All those times we rounded Airport Overlook and turned it on paid off yesterday, so THANKS!

    Awesome, Gump!
I have a 5 K story of my own. Lil Squeek 1 and just returned from a beautiful weekend at Camp Seagull. This morning, I talked her into running a camp-sponsored 5 K with me. The only rule was we had to run together the whole way. She was reluctant because none of the other girls in the cabin wanted to do it. But she finally relented and hit the trail with her old dad. And she was a superstar. At the very end, I told her youth was on her side, and that she needed to kick it in and beat her old dad. She was gone before the words were out of my mouth. We bumped knuckles and slapped high-fives at the end. And she had a grin on her face the whole way home. It was my favorite race of the year.

Thanks guys. Hey, by the way, for anyone who’s not doing Pinehurst, check this out:

I’d be tempted if I didn’t already have Pinehurst on the calendar.
