Where: Umstead – Bridge to Nowhere
When: 6:30 AM
Distance: Up for discussion
Weather: Low 60s and humid
I went ahead and called it for BTN since it looked like the vote was pretty strong for it.

I just posted this in the White Lake thread as well, but I am interested in running Saturday but need to head out at 6 or 6:15 – any takers? I will only be doing 6-8 easy miles.
Also, for the swimmers out there, Kendal and I were discussing a potential field trip for the MAFC swimmers next Wednesday (5/14) to Ebeneezer point for an open water practice. Time of day is negotiable. I’m hoping for some good chop in prep for Steelhead!

Sorry I can’t join you on Sat am…Mrs. Herbs is on duty @ WakeMed…I am looking for early am Brick Volunteers for Sunday (perhaps a 25 mile-ish ride with a 5-ish run, starting 6:45-7-ish?) Looking to finish up before Mother’s Day brunch (10:30) Any takers?

I am in for 6-8 on Saturday. Start time is flexible… who else?
I can probably do a brick on Sunday. That would be a perfect start to my Mother’s Day.
Wednesday 5/14 swim will need to be in the afternoon for me. I had to rearrange my schedule to open the center but should be flexible after 3pm.

I’ll miss this weekend’s run…I’ll be flying back to Raleigh from SF.
I had an amazing run this morning…from the hotel down to the waterfront…along the SF Bay…with Alcatraz in the distance….to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge and back…approx. 11 miles. It was and amazing run and a great way to see SF for the first time.
I’ll see everyone next weekend.

Terp, Get some Peet’s Coffee while you are out there!
I hope that I will see you guys Saturday. I guess (begrudgingly) I could be persuaded to meet at 6:15. Maybe I could drag a bag of sand out with me.
6 fgump // May 8, 2008 at 8:10 am
I’m in for BTN, as early as possible. Mrs. Gump would like to get in her workout at 8:30, which requires me to be home by 0800. See you all at the Bridge.

I need to run 8 on Saturday. I would like to try to run with a group. Slower Pace. Not like Forrest.
8 sandbagger // May 8, 2008 at 8:50 pm
hey keith – i am sure you will be fine with the group, forrest notwithstanding.
seems like a large contingent of the group this week is pushing for an earlier start. if we can get consensus, we may shoot for 6:15???
please sound off!

I will meet you guys mid way through! I need to be finished by 7:30 and will be starting earlier. Congrats to all the White Lakers. I hope you all are recovering well.

I’ve missed running with you guys but soccer has been busy! I’ll be in Jacksonville/Topsail Beach for a tournament this weekend. Anyone know a good running route at Topsail? (I know run north a few miles and then turn around and run south, right?). Have fun this weekend and great job @ WL!
12 fgump // May 8, 2008 at 10:09 pm
6:15 est bon pour moi. I’d like 8-10 miles, and it will be an easy run for me. You guys are killing me…
13 litl' bit // May 9, 2008 at 10:42 am
Glad you are having a good trip Terp. Can’t wait to hear about it.
6:15 is good! BTN….. I am in for a easy one. Anyone up for a tree removal afterward?
Seriously
14 Dana Grode // May 9, 2008 at 10:59 am
I plan on being there at 6:15, may drag Rhonda out too. How big of a tree removal are you talking about?
15 stabu // May 9, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Groovy. I’m so glad y’all are a bunch of early birds.
Kendal – sorry, no tree removal, I’ll be cleaning the roads.
As for next Wednesday’s swim, call me a baby but this makes me want to be in the pool

(Kendal – we can swim between the lid-taker-offers, yes?

And I thought I was worried about alligators…. now I am going to be seeing dead bodies. The EeBee GeeBee are working overtime…. We can swim Mon. 5/12 am, but not Wedn 5/14. If all goes well we will be OK for the following week but I will not know til later.
Dana, found 16ish foot tree split & down in my back yard after WL (the wind really was blowing). I am planning on renting a chain saw on Saturday after the run & my son & I will get to work. Because the tree has fallen already I do not think it will be that hard just labor intensive. I promised pizza & beers for after
17 fgump // May 9, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Kendal, I can offer my chain saw to you to borrow (but unfortunately I have to run back home to tend the young’uns, and won’t be able to stay to help).
I’ll give it a once-over this afternoon, make sure it runs, and sharpen the blade a bit. It should handle a 16-footer no problem.
18 sandbagger // May 9, 2008 at 3:39 pm
i will be going solo tomorrow – sorry squeek – as i have to visit my dad in the hospital (chapel hill) afterwards.
19 litl' bit // May 9, 2008 at 5:37 pm
That would be great Forrest. All the help I can get!
Hoping for a strong recovery for you Dad, Rama. Can you brick on Sunday?
Who & where are we bricking on Sunday?
20 Bald Eagle // May 9, 2008 at 6:29 pm
I will join you at 6:15 AM and try to do a short one! See you then!
21 Herbs // May 9, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Now that the run is an “early-bird special” I’ll be joining you from 6:15-7:15 before Mrs. Herbs is off to work. It looks like the weather will hold out Sunday a.m. for a brick…I’m going to do an early one to be home for Mother’s Day brunch! See ya in the a.m!
22 rap master sass // May 9, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Sorry I will not be joining you. I will be biking instead — maybe even in Umstead. I have two months to get from a 47-mile ride to 112. Not sure if I will be going your pace or not.
23 Squeeky // May 9, 2008 at 8:51 pm
I can’t brick on Sunday b/c Ms. Squeek has a violin concert. Am going to hit the trainer. Litl’ Bit, I wish I could help with the tree, but I have soccer duty. Sorry. See everyone at 6:15
24 stabu // May 9, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Kendal, Herbs, other Sunday riders – Kirstin and I are leaving from my house on Sunday at 6am for a 50-ish miler then short run off the bike if you’re interested. If you want to go a little later, we could always try to meet up with you somewhere out past 55 ~
25 fgump // May 9, 2008 at 9:12 pm
I’ll be bringing a few more as well, one runner and two riders
See you all @6:15.

We missed you Sandbagger! What a great group we had today…. even the little Gumps & Mrs. Gump…. what a treat!
Thanks so much to Dana for his time & extra energy with Forrest’s chain saw. We got a lot done… still have a lot to do, but so much better! Thanks everyone!

Lainey sends her thanks for the warm reception and fun she had on the run and subsequent socializing on the patio. I think now she understands why I run…for the post-run commentary! Thanks again for your warm hospitality, and see you all again soon. I’m running a 5k Saturday, so I won’t make the group run this weekend.
