Looks like we may be in for some of the same weather this weekend. I am not sure either Saturday or Sunday look like great possibilities for a run outdoors….. that is unless you are Dr. Seuss. 20 miles in sleet & snow seems crazy. Belky & I waited for sunny skies on Sunday. Thanks for getting me out of the house Belky.
    What is everyone/anyone thinking?

I’m planning 20 for Sunday (not sure what time yet…). Looking for a BTN-Meredith out-and-back (sound familiar Belky?) 18 in the snow/slush/ice last Sunday around home was a challenge, but a good mental run.

Just heard this morning from Linda Hatfield and the DRC run club that the trails in Umstead were still completely ice covered. They turned around at the spillway and ran out of the park. Who knows by Saturday, but wanted to pass on the trail report from this morning.

How about Whole Foods off of Wade? If the trails are sloppy, we can always run through the neighborhood over there.

    I’m looking to run 8 – 10 slow miles.

It is sleety now but suppose to be mainly rain all day and then clear by morning just for our run… that’s nice :)
It was not the slush but the black ice that was bad at Shelley on Sunday. Has anyone seen Shelley or ATT since the melt? Least time we ran Whole Foods the bridge over 440 was locked. Anyone have a long neighborhood run that would be safe dryer roads? I got it- road trip! Wilmington, Charleston, Florida
I am in for 10 – 14ish & will brave where ever I am told.

I ran 12 on the ATT Wednesday, starting at Wimberley and heading up to MP9.5. It was pretty good footing, with just a bit of slush in a few areas. Yesterday’s warmth, and today’s rain, will clear it right off. I really had no problem with footing in my trail shoes. I would join you, but Lainey’s on a women’s retreat tonight through tomorrow afternoon, and I’m forced to run Sunday. Here’s hoping they unlock the gate over 440!!

    Hi Guys!
I’m planning to run the ATT since I need to get in a couple of longer runs before the ATT half. I’m planning to start at White Oak entrance at 7am (at least it will be light out). If anyone wants to join me let me know!

Did litl’bit call me “crazy?” Watch out girl! I’m glad you’re up to 10-14 . . . how’s the foot?

PS It was a beautiful winter wonderland last weekend!

Hey everyone. To the extent I am able to run, I will need to run flat. So I will head to ATT at 7 am to meet the Gator. Anyone else?
    Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

By the way, read an interesting article on recovering from an injury and prevenitng an injury. The article said that the last mile of your run should be your slowest. Like that ever happens in our group….

  • 11 terp // Feb 5, 2010 at 5:08 pm

I can run ATT…as long as the weather and the kids’ schedules cooperate!

KarenG8tr – My goal is to run 10 slow miles (ok, so all of my miles are slow).

Squeeky – No problem re: making the last mile the slowest (see note to KarenG8tr).

Does anyone have good directions off of 540 to the White Oak entrance? I remember getting lost last time with my MapQuest directions.

  • 12 Belkymd // Feb 5, 2010 at 6:43 pm

No problem Litl’ bit! Enjoyed the snow run! I probably won’t make the Sat ATT run but may be up for an early Sunday long run with Gump and any others that are interested.

  • 13 KarenG8r // Feb 5, 2010 at 9:14 pm

Hey Terp…Here are directions to White Oak entrance from I- 540:
    I-540 W to exit 66A on NC-55 to Apex
Take NC 55 for 4.5 miles then take right on Green Level Road West (High House Rd. is to the left). Go 2.9 miles and turn right on White Oak Church Road. Go .9 miles and parking lot is on your right.

I will be at ATT at 7AM, unless it is pouring rain! If so, I will be headed to Lifetime. Hope to see you all at ATT–like Karen I need the long run!

  • 15 MitDog // Feb 5, 2010 at 11:06 pm

I’ll see you all at 7:00 AM tomorrow. I look forward to it! Rain and all.

  • 16 fgump // Feb 6, 2010 at 7:13 pm

For those that didn’t run today, and want to run tomorrow (or even if you ran today, and want to run again tomorrow!), I’m planning on an ~11:30am start from BTN. 20 on the plan.

  • 17 fgump // Feb 7, 2010 at 11:05 am

10am edit: moving my start time to approx. 10:30 due to afternoon commitments just sprung on me…maybe I’ll see a Miler out there! Go Colts!

  • 18 dr seuss // Feb 7, 2010 at 2:57 pm

I might have come out to run until that Colts comment. Go Saints!

    Also, Happy Birthday, Squeeky!
