  Please forgive me, all, for highjacking this comment area to shamelessly plug my gig… but just a reminder that my band, Better Off Dead, is playing at the Pour House Sunday evening Dec. 28. We go on early… like 7 or 8. The Pour House is smoke free on the main floor. Holiday time is tough, but if you’re experiencing cabin fever or in-law burnout, this show could be just the thing. We’re going to have some special guests, and it should be a hot show.

  The band covers music by the Grateful Dead, but one doesn’t have to like or know anything about the Dead to enjoy this. By bass-playing standards, what I do in Better Off Dead is a marathon compared to other stuff some of you have seen me do.

  Merry Christmas Mitterlings! I had my fill of turkey, corn pudding and cake today and need to run 14-16 on saturday morning. I will probably do Umstead to get some hills in. If anyone is interested in starting early let me know.

  i am out again. tomorrow will be 2 full weeks of being sick. i got slammed by either 2 or 3 consecutive bugs. at the end of week 1, after taking our kid in to the doc for croup, i decided to just get the flu shot since i was there. 2 hours later i am totally sick again. been fighting it all week. i may have just turned the corner.

  planning on a glorious but glacially slow return next week.

  Saturday’s run was a great one. Anybody up for a run on New Year’s Eve? I talked with Sandman and he is planning to run. I suggest NOT early! Maybe 9:30 AM?

  The Cramps are planning a NY Day run at 8 a.m. at Shelley. I’ll be out of town this Saturday, so I’m going to try to make this my long run of the week…perhaps 8 – 10 miles.
