I am in and looking forward to it. See you on the trails.

Also, may have some no-so-good news about the parking mess at Umstead. Need to confirm, but will fill everyone in on Saturday.

Hi all. First-time poster. I just ran across this site as my friend belkymd indicated he’s found a great bunch of folks to run with. I’ve been running a few times with belkymd, and he conned me into running Umstead as my first marathon. I hope to join you all soon. Can’t make it this weekend or next, but will try to make it soon (I’ve been long-running on Sunday mornings before church).

Welcome, Forrest. Look forward to meeting you.

I’m in – I’ll probably only do 8-ish as I’m doing Kiawah next weekend and my tight calves need a break. Not sure I’m going to be able to handle the scary trails y’all are exploring out there…

I will miss you all on Saturday. Will be in snowy Germany at the Kris Kringle Christmas Market in Nurenburg. See you all on the 8th. Have a great run!

P.S. Note that I finally landed on a silly name. Being different was such a challenge!

I’ll be there. Does this mean we have to run through the Pit of Despair?!

  • 8 Herbs // Nov 28, 2007 at 12:40 am

Sorry I have to miss this one. I got to experience the “Pit of Despair” last Saturday with a great bunch of MM’ers. Can you say “huff-n-puff”? Have a great run! See you at the next one…

hey Bald Eagle…. I love the new name. Have fun in Germany. Make sure you and Jimmy get with me in a couple weeks to plan some lunch swims.

I am in for Saturday, but hopefully not “in” the “Pit of Despair” like I squealed through Saturday.

By the way….. thanks for the spell check Rama. You are the master.

Can’t make it on Saturday. I will be in Hilton Head for busines. I will somehow have to manage a 14 miler on Saturday alone. You guys have fun!

PS> Great run last weekend! Thanks to Squeeky for the new route.

Since we have varying desires in terms of distance and terrain, I thought I would try to come up with something to suit everyone. Here is an idea:

    Start at BTN.
Take B & B to Graylin B&B (Turning around at that point will be about 8 miles back to cars, Stabu).
Take Graylin B&B to Turkey Creek
Run Turkey Creek the “easy” way.
    Back to Reedy Creek B&B.
From here, folks can run straight back to the cars ( and then go grab a table at SB), or they can run to Graylin B&B, down Graylin B&B, left on Company Mill Spur, and back up to the B&B for the 2 mile-jog home.

I’m in, will be bringing Rhonda again too. Looking at doing around 12 so should be able to work that in between the 10′s and 14′s somehow.

I’m out. There’s a 5K across the street from my house. Hard to resist.

    Catch you next week.

Great run today everyone. It was so good to see so many out so early in the cold morning. And several faces that we have not seen in a while. Jon and Rama, we missed you.

  • 19 fgump // Dec 2, 2007 at 10:50 am

Didn’t make it Saturday, but did this morning. As I’ve only run in Umstead two times before, I didn’t know there was an “easy” and a “hard” way to run Turkey Creek. I think I chose the hard way today…hope to meet you all soon.
