I need to do about 12 miles on Saturday. Anyone in? Who wants to ride on Sunday?

I’m in for a run on Sat, but I don’t know how far I’ll last… A Sunday a.m. ride sounds great! (Early would be better for me)

I think I can run. It is Ms. Squeeky’s big DOOK reunion this weekend, but I hope I can get away for a run on Saturday.
Lit’l Bit, in answer to your Q, Eva and I had a great trip. It rained almost the entire time, but it was warm enough that we just went with it. Played in a lot of mud. There was a brief period of sun (someone timed it to be 11 minutes), and Eva and I hit the zip line, splashing into 52 degree water. Sadly and not surprisingly, the big souvenir from the outing was the cold we brought home. Oh well, it was worth it (except for the time spent listening to Woody announce that game-ugh).
Congrats on the 1/2 Terp. Looking forward to hearing more about it.
On the other end of the big continent, Topher finished is IM swim effortlessly, with a time of 1:20-something. He felt great.

ack -I’m going to miss another one! Mom announced 2 weeks ago she’s coming for a visit :\ April and May are looking a little nuts for me, which may mean many 5am Saturday morning runs…
I would love to do a Sunday ride, but I think I may try to do the sprint tri this weekend if it’s not 45 and raining. I really enjoyed going out with everyone last Sunday!

I’m planning on 10-12 miles this Saturday, and I voted for Whole Foods, wanting to do the Art Museum run. Second choice would be the Shelley 10 miles, out and back. Look forward to seeing whoever can be there.

Oh! And a very Happy Birthday to Lil’bit on Saturday! I’m sorry I can’t be there for your birthday run, but I will be there in spirit
Enjoy the ‘party’ at your house this weekend and remember we have a spare room if you need it

Thanks Stabu! I am down to 7 students…. it might be do-able as long as I keep them fed
and WOW thanks for the push this morning. It was a great swim; 3,400 yrds and I do not think we miss counted once.
OK… we have Herbs, Squeeky, MitDog; who else Karen, Rama, Jeffery, Dr. Suess, Dr. Feelgood, Belky….? for the run.

I’m in. I look forward to serving on the Mitdog Boston Marathon Training pace team this weekend for 10-12 miles.

Congratulations, Terp and Topher! Sorry I have been away so long. Glad not to be in the FRG.

3400 yds? Not all at once, right? Geez, I think I could do that if I started on Monday. I swam 2000 this week and felt like that was across the ocean.
Alas, I think I am out for Saturday. Litl’ Squeek 1 has an early soccer game. Bummed. I will have to run really early. I will try to be there (wherever there is), but don’t wait on me.
Happy Birthday, Litl’ Bit!!!!

How do you vote anyway? I never downloaded the voting tutorial and now I’m confused! I’m easy re: Saturday’s run..Whole Foods, Shelley, wherever….

Herbs, Look up at the top right, just below the photo. Select the location from the list by clicking the circle next to the location. Then hit “vote.”

I need to run early as well. If BTN is the destination, I could meet Squeeky early and we could meet up with the crew for a few miles at the end. What do you think Squeeky? As a side note, I went out to Umstead on Sunday morning to cheer on the 100 mile endurance runners. What a sight! I parked at Reed Creek entrance and ran an out and back on Turkey creek. I started at 5:30 and it was dark. I came across about 25 runners on my 6 mile stint and they were all looking rough. The race pretty much consisted on 24-30 hours of rain. Everyone was on their last lap and were around the 90 mile mark. I made pleasantries and some reciprocated, some did not. I really scared one guy badly. I came upon him and he had headphones on. He didn’t see me until I was right on him and jumped two feet in the air and yelled. None of the runners were actually running at this point. I stopped at an aid station at the bridge on Turkey Creek were there were two monster grilles going with a variety of options. As I was chatting with some of the volunteers, I saw the most incredible display of will power that I have ever seen. I’m not sure if I can do it justice, but let’s just say that this woman was as close at you can get to crawling on all fours while still standing upright. She took a seat at the station, changed her shoes, grabbed a nibble to eat and actually stood up to embark on her last 12.5 mile loop. Having seen her come into the aid station, I would have guessed that an ambulance would be taking her out. She just wasn’t going to quite. Pretty cool! I would have to say that seeing these people ranked up their with my most motivating running experience thus far. We should volunteer as a group next year. I hope to see everyone on Saturday.

Hi Gang! I hate that I missed the last run and will miss this weekend too. We’re going to Charlotte to see family. I’m gonna run McAlpine Trail where they have x-country meets. Look it up if you’re ever in Charlotte and need a run.
Happy Birthday, Lil Bit! Wish I could be out there for your birthday run. Sounds like your making up for lost time now that the foot is feeling better! See y’all soon!

Belky, Just how early are you suggesting? I could do that. Let’s email or talk today or Friday.

Congrats to Ben Dillon for finishing the Umstead 100. Ben ran 10 miles with us the week before Umstead. This was his first 100-miler. I think he said his longest before that was 50 miles. My guess is that it’s not like going from a 5K to a 10K.
Ben – I hope you join us again soon. I’d love to hear more details about the run. I’ll have to live that distance vicariously through you. Not sure how you run four marathons in a day. Congrats! It’s an unbelievable accomplishment.

Squeeky, I was thinking about doing 10-12 miles and starting at 5:30. We could start at the Reedy Gate and pick up the Mitterlings at BTN for our run back. How does that sound?
PS> I’m assuming that BTN will win the voting this week.
18 MitDog // Apr 11, 2008 at 7:59 am
So, where are we running?
19 Squeeky // Apr 11, 2008 at 8:44 am
HeyEveryone, This is Mitdog’s last run before we send him off to Hopkinton. Why don’t we say Whole Foods at 6:30. Belky, can you meet me at the WF p lot at 5:30? Wwe culd catch the group on the return. Then we can all do BTN next week.
Just an idea.
20 Belkymd // Apr 11, 2008 at 3:30 pm
I can do 5:30 at Whole Foods. Let me know if something changes.
21 KarenG8r // Apr 11, 2008 at 6:48 pm
I’m in for Whole Foods and Mittdog’s send off to Boston….along with Lit’l Bits Birthday!! Wouldn’t miss either. Catch you boys and girls in the a.m. for some running in the rain! Also…congrats to Terp and Topher and especially “100-mile-man-Ben”.

Wow it sounds like I am going to miss numerous great celebrations! Happy Birthday Litl bit and best of Luck MitDog! The boys and I returned from our CA adventure on Monday–we had a great time with one small hiccup–we tangled with a tractor-trailer a week ago Thursday. Fortunately the boys were not hurt–shaken but not injured–but I wasn’t quite as lucky. Dr. Feelgood says I have some cartlidge stress around my sternum and it really hurts when I run–so no run this week! Likely I will be back next week–we will see! Y’all have a great run!

It was good to see everyone this morning even though we didn’t get to run with the group. I enjoyed the Whole Foods start as well. I had never done that route before. I also wanted to post that the Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon registration for 08 just opened up. The N&O had a nice article in todays paper hyping the newly modified course. They want Raleigh to be a Boston qualifier race and have taken out a lot of the hills to facilitate better times. I have registered! Any takers……..

Anyone interested in a “cold one”??
This would be a real marathon challenge.
