You guys need to do Tour de Cure next year. It was an AWESOME event. They’re tri-bike friendly too (as long as you stay out front and pull the pack
). We did 102 miles Saturday, and scaled it back for Sunday due to the heat. A great cause, fantastic scenery, great support, and they put on a great feed! Plus, what can be better than rolling into Koka Booth after 77 miles on a 100 degree day to have a cold Bud Light waiting to greet you?!? Just this event, with its ~350 cyclists, raised over $150k for diabetes research. Awesome.

Nice ride, Mr. Gump. I had a flat in the first six miles on Saturday, and spent the day clawing my way back. Every time I caught up with a bunch of Henson Fuerst guys, I’d ask about you. Always got the same response: “Over the horizon, long ago.”
My plans for a long first day ended around 68 miles, when I picked up a couple of bottles of hot water. The last ten miles into Oxford were a bit steamy.
We need a big team from this crowd next year. I’ll buy you a jersey (with Squeeky’s help).

I must add that rap master sass is a wonderful public speaker; we really enjoyed the program after dinner Saturday. Derek, from Coldwell Banker, was in our small group that went out in the heat after resting in the cool (?) shade in Oxford. There was one guy out there in front of us, but he was determined to ride alone. So, Derek, myself, and three other triathletes completed the last loop.
I’m sorry to hear of your troubles, flats and hot water. I am amazed there were not more flats on that ride (myself included, as I had to make a last-minute change to my race wheels/tires). I made sure to add ice to every bottle I made. Not that it lasted long…
Thanks for the jersey offer for 2009. If my wife lets me out of her sight again after leaving her with our boys this past weekend, I’ll let you know
